PRE CONFERENCE: THE EDUCATORS' EBP WORKSHOP®
Audience: Academic Nurse Educators who wish to update their education programs.

WORKSHOP

In its 4th year, this acclaimed workshop for educators explores teaching - learning strategies, target competencies, and interdisciplinary efforts in evidence-based quality and safety for programs and curricula. The workshop will offer participants the opportunity to explore EBP teaching and learning strategies and discuss trends and issues related to preparation of the workforce.

Selected abstracts will be included in "Teaching Strategies from Across the Nation" that later will be published online. (See ACESTAR website for Call for Teaching Strategy Abstracts.)

Audience: Clinicians who will serve on their agency’s clinical care evidence and safety teams.

WORKSHOP

TeamSTEPPS™ is an evidence-based teamwork system designed to advance the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care by improving communication and other teamwork skills among healthcare professionals. As part of the National Implementation of TeamSTEPPS project, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) have partnered to build a national support network working through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and other academic healthcare delivery systems.

King, MS, CHE, Workshop Facilitator, CPT(P) Jodi Behmer, AN, USA, Ms. Marnie Huss, BSN, CCRN, CPAN, and Ms. Laura Maynard, MDiv lead this interactive workshop and move beyond the essentials of teamwork to enable the learner to develop an actionable plan to integrate teamwork into practice in your organization.

Audience: First-time attendees, novices, and those wanting a packaged overview of EBP to introduce at their agency.

Highly recommended for those new to the Summer Institute. The Institute is organized around the framework that is introduced here. This content will be covered in depth only in this session. A perfect place for your EBP Team to begin building toward employing EBP.

Marthe J. Moseley, PhD, RN, CCRN, CCNS, and Paula C. Clutter, PhD, RN, CNS-BC, associates of the Academic Center for Evidence-Based Practice will present the fundamentals of EBP needed for a basis and will explore how principles are applied through multiple examples.

The unique program for this day focuses on building caregiver capacity to accelerate improvement and balance competing priorities and complex system demands. Organizational facets of change are explored in context of system improvement. Experts guide exploration of how the individual caregiver, teams, and organizational processes come together as decisive forces in patient outcomes. A strong emphasis on quality and change will equip participants with many options to apply in their own agencies.
