Best Practice in Tobacco Treatment

Implementation of Research Findings by the Health Care Provider

Bibliography of Selected Research

October 24, 2000

This bibliography was produced by the Academic Center for Evidence-based Nursing (ACE). Recent research literature was searched using the bibliographic database Medline and through the years 1988 to present. The primary search terms were: smoking, smoking cessation, physician practice patterns, evidence-based medicine, guideline adherence, and decision-making. The citations were selected for relevance to the barriers and facilitators of the implementation of research findings into clinical practice and the smoking cessation practices of health care providers.
